Jaeger-LeCoultre debuted a new Polaris series in 2018, drawing inspiration from the vintage Memovox Polaris diving watch with its underwater alarm from 1968. As the brand’s exclusive sports watch line, the Polaris Chronograph, with its tachymeter bezel for measuring speed over a particular distance, is the quintessential athletic complication that connects JLC to the world of motorsport.

Five years later, the Polaris Chronograph returns with a striking gradient gray lacquered dial and a new in-house integrated chronograph mechanism. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the lacquered grey dial is a visual delight, showcasing a stunning gradation of shades from light to dark.

Achieving this exquisite effect involves a long process, where nearly 40 layers of varnish are meticulously applied, followed by layers of colored and transparent lacquer. The final touch of a polished finish, brings out the dial’s lustrous sheen, making it a true work of art.

Nestled within its robust 42mm steel case, the dial of the Polaris Chronograph features three distinct levels of finishing, each contributing to its allure. The internal opaline bezel adds depth and dimension, while a grained circle surrounds the hours and indexes, enhancing legibility and refinement. At the center lies a sunray-brushed surface, radiating elegance and sophistication.

The functionality of the chronograph is exemplary, with its iconic attributes prominently displayed. The central second hand ensures precise timing, while the tachymeter scale enables speed calculations with ease. Positioned at 3 o’clock, the 30-minute counter provides convenient tracking of elapsed time during various activities.

This Polaris Chronograph is powered by the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 761, a testament to the brand’s watchmaking expertise. This high-performance movement features an integrated chronograph mechanism, equipped with a column-wheel and vertical clutch for seamless operation and precision timing. With a generous power reserve of 65 hours, this timepiece is well-suited for adventurous pursuits, ensuring reliable performance even during extended periods of use.
