The elegant, discreet, ultra-thin dress timepieces in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Master Thin range include time-and-date, moon phase, and more intricate options like tourbillons and perpetual calendars. By the end of 2018, JLC added Métiers d’Art dials to the line, which were initially available with subtle beige or sunray adorned dials.

The hand-guilloché dial, which debuted on the Master Ultra Thin Moon model, added an extra layer of refinement and eventually spread to the more intricate versions. The pink gold Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel model features the newest hand-guilloché dial to leave JLC’s Métiers Rares Atelier in an alluring new shade of blue.

The 180 sun rays that radiate from the dial’s centre to its edges make up the hand-guilloché pattern, which captures light with each wrist movement. The rose engine lathe demands a master guillocheur with tremendous skill and a calm hand to ensure that every ray is perfectly straight, equally spaced, and aligned. The hand-nailed or azurage interior of the date indicator at noon presents another challenge.

The master enameler applies consecutive layers of Grand Feu enamel after the dial has been guillochéd, and these layers are then burned at 800 degrees Celsius in a kiln. The royal blue enamel on this Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon is a new hue, even though we previously discussed an older hand-guilloché version that was created as a trilogy in 2019.

The chic gold-colored Dauphine hour and minute hands and extended indices attached to the dial are polished, much like the other Master Thin family members.
