The designs for Revolution & The Rake’s next collaboration were just out, and it’s yet another beautiful work. The Chronomaster Revival A3818 “Airweight Cover Girl” was created in partnership with Zenith and is based on a model from the brand’s archives from 50 years ago. Revolution & The Rake reprise this icon for the second time, but this time in lightweight titanium.

The A3818 is designed in the same approach as Zenith’s earlier revival models, such as the A3817, which debuted last year. However, it differentiates from the original “Cover Girl” resurrection, which was staged by Zenith, Revolution, and The Rake in 2020. The most major modification also explains why it’s called “Airweight.”

It’s dubbed “Airweight Cover Girl” because it features a lightweight titanium case that measures 37mm wide and is designed similarly to earlier Zenith Revival tonneau versions.

For a dramatic contrast and light play, it is completed with a mix of brushed and polished surfaces. The chronograph is started, stopped, and reset using classic pump-style pushers flanking the crown.

The dial is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, while the movement is protected by a second crystal on the back. The dial is blue with vivid white printed markings and is satin-brushed. A pulsometer and tachymeter scale are on the outside ring, with a “shark tooth” chronograph scale one step inward.

The time is shown using white Super-LumiNova inserts in the center hour and minute hands. The chronograph 30 minutes and 12-hour registers, as well as the tiny seconds sub-dial, are a blend of white and deeper blue. Against the blue backdrop, the red center chronograph seconds hands stand out.

Zenith’s El Primero 400 calibre, which is made in-house, provides the power of this watch. The column wheel and horizontal clutch are built into this high-frequency, automated chronograph movement. It can measure elapsed time down to 1/10th of a second and runs at a frequency of 5Hz, or 36,000vph. You won’t run out of energy anytime soon, thanks to the 50-hour battery reserve. The movement is visible from the rear.

The Zenith x Revolution & The Rake Chronomaster Revival A3818 “Airweight Cover Girl” comes with a Gay Frères ladder-style bracelet.  Zenith designed it in brushed titanium with polished center links for the first time. There’s also a blue Cordura-effect rubber strap with a steel pin buckle for another option.
